Speaker: Peter Leake
Time: 19.45 start
In 1968 the world was poised for the unveiling of the latest model from Jaguar, the company that just seven years earlier had rocked the motoring world with the launch of the iconic E-Type. What could they deliver with their much whispered-about new saloon? They were not disappointed. The new luxury, businessman's express took the world by storm.
Since those early days, the XJ has gone on to represent the very best in luxury motoring, leading the world in its class for engineering innovations, delivering a ride second to none, and with performance to match. The famous XJC's, or "Big Cats" as they were known, took Jaguar back into racing in the 1970's.
Peter’s presentation will not only take us through the story of the XJ’s, but will explain that it was not all plain sailing for Jaguar and focuses on the cars, the personalities and the hopes that were, and still are, behind this quite amazing family of saloons - the famous Jaguar XJ Range.
