Being a registered professional shows your customers and your colleagues that you are continually keeping up to date with learning, new skills and working practices.
When buying a car, hiring a vehicle or taking one in for parts, servicing or repair, IMI’s Professional Register is here to make sure consumers end up in skilled, competent and trustworthy hands. The Register is an industry-wide database of professional individuals recognised for maintaining their knowledge, skills and competency. These individuals have committed to achieving 90 credits of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within a three year cycle - that's the equivalent of about four days per year.
The Employer Recognition Scheme is a mechanism for recognising employers and businesses that have a minimum of 50% of their staff on the IMI Professional Register. It demonstrates that a business is committed to investing in the skills and knowledge of its employees, and that they work to an ethical code of conduct. Learn more about the Employer Recognition Scheme.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the practice of maintaining and developing the skills and knowledge required in your job role. CPD covers the whole spectrum of automotive learning - learning on the job, reading a relevant article, or simply attending a conference all count towards CPD.
The IMI supports its members by offering a range of automotive-specific CPD courses, specifically designed to assist in maintaining professional competence.
