Wheel and Tyre Technology

Together with the tyre, a road wheel must support the weight of a vehicle and be strong enough to withstand forces when driving. Tyres are the only part of the car in contact with the road and therefore correct assessment and maintenance is crucial to driver safety.  This course will introduce different types of wheel, wheel rims and fixings, tyre construction, functions of the tyre, tread patterns, and wheel balancing.
