COURSE OUTLINE

Diagnostics or fault-finding is a fundamental part of an automotive technician’s work. The subject of diagnostics does not relate to individual areas of the vehicle. If your knowledge of a vehicle system is at a suitable level then you will use the same logical process for diagnosing the fault, whatever the system. This course is about the diagnostic process, data sources, diagnostics on paper, mechanical and electrical diagnostics.


Who is the course for?

Vehicle technicians who are just starting out in the industry or those who have been working for some time and want to consolidate their experience.

 

What will I get out of it?

 

You will be able to:

- Understand logic and terminology and the six-stage process.

- Explain the different sources of information for diagnostic work.

- Understand concern, cause, correction and root cause analysis.

- Describe test lights and analogue meters.

- Understand volt drop testing and testing for short circuits to earth.

- Understand flight recorders tests and black box technique.
