Automotive Training Receives Government's Seal of Approval

The 2019 Performance Tables is the list of qualifications that have been approved by the DfE for teaching to 16 – 19 year olds from September 2017. This authorisation by the DfE has seen a proportion* of the newly approved IMI qualifications be recognised alongside A Levels and other vocational qualifications.

Paul Whiteside, Head of Product Development at IMI, said:

“Having IMI qualifications recognised alongside A Levels and other vocational qualifications is another step in raising the profile of the motor industry. The sector may be facing an ever-growing skills shortage, but it remains a very exciting career choice with the ongoing developments in technology.

“Motor technology is making the industry a more diverse place to work and grow, so in order to attract more young people into the sector it’s important they receive the recognition they deserve on completion of their qualification.”

Please note: These changes apply to qualifications taught from September 2017 and are reported in the 2019 Performance Tables.

*Of all IMI qualifications available, only IMI Tech Level qualifications are awarded UCAS points
