The IMI Targets the Bottom Line of Bodyshop Management Skills

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and Bodyshop Consulting have announced a partnership to provide an affordable one day training course aimed specifically at helping Bodyshops succeed in difficult economic times.

The announced course is entitled “Bodyshop Management: Getting Results and Making Profit” aims to provide Bodyshop managers with practical management tools to help ensure their business is as profitable and efficient as possible.

The partnership with Bodyshop Consulting comes on the back of research, carried out by the IMI, which showed that 40 per cent of Bodyshop businesses do not have a business plan to help them get the most from their resources. Reflecting on these findings, Adrian Lawson, Education Programme and Partnership Manager at the IMI, commented: “It is no secret that Bodyshop survival is a real issue in these austere and difficult time; a problem is compounded with a major management skills gap in the motor industry as a whole.

This course introduces the key areas of successful Bodyshop management and help to unravel the mysteries of how to get to a healthy and sustainable bottom line profit from the business of repairing damaged vehicles. Bodyshop Consulting have specifically designed the course to be a short, affordable introduction to these skills, as we know that pressures in the Bodyshop industry make finding time for training especially difficult. We truly believe that the skills provided will help, if not save, many struggling Bodyshop businesses.”

“Getting Results and Making Profit” is priced at £250 (£200 to IMI members) and is the latest in a series of Bodyshop and management courses available through the IMI’s CPD offer, which forms part of a wider Government sponsored initiative by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES), which aims to ensure current and future skills needs are met along with long term profitability for the retail automotive sector.

Other short courses in the programme include technical skills such as welding and smart repairs provided by industry leading training providers. The IMI has a wide variety of management upskilling solutions that will suit any size businesses from the large dealership to the small independent providers.
