New Editor of MIM Magazine

Tim Kiek has been announced as the new editor of the Institute of the Motor Industry’s ‘Motor Industry Magazine’ (MIM), replacing Gareth Price, who has been editing the magazine since July 2011.

Tim  comes to the role of MIM editor from the Hamerville Media Group, where he worked initially on trade publication Professional Motor Mechanic, before moving on to sister publication Professional Motor Factor which he edited for five years.

Speaking after his appointment, Tim Kiek commented:

“During my time at Professional Motor Factor I actively sought to address the issues most pertinent to the magazine's readership and provide practical, relevant and implementable business advice. I also investigated wider industry issues, stimulating a constructive debate on the best way forward for the automotive aftermarket. My challenge is now to do the same for the automotive industry as a whole, to represent and reflect the many and diverse needs of the IMI's membership and to show the plethora of opportunities the automotive industry offers those seeking a rewarding and successful career.”

Motor Industry Magazine’s award winning team of journalists reports each month on the subjects of vital concern to the industry. In-depth coverage of the news is complemented by specialist features, new technology and product sections. Received ten times per year by 16,501 industry professionals including 530 colleges nationwide, MIM is widely acknowledged as the magazine for those who work in the motor industry. Part of Tim’s remit as new editor will be to develop a new online version of the magazine (www.mimonline.org.uk).

Tim joins a relatively new team in the IMI’s Communications department, which includes Head of Communications Jane Allan, PR Manager Simon White and Events Manager Kayleigh Peterman, who was also appointed in May.
