New MOT qualification goes live

This new MOT qualification will be offered to the whole industry throughout the IMI network of over 600 colleges and training providers throughout the UK.

The qualification for new MOT Testers and Managers has been piloted in a small number of IMI Approved Centres.  A final pilot is being run in six areas around the UK from 1st June where participants will be able to pass the qualification ahead of the official roll out.

The qualification forms part of a complete package of new MOT Tester requirements, produced by the IMI in conjunction with the DVSA, which includes the annual assessment, annual training, and an online eLearning solution.  IMI is alone in producing solutions for all the requirements for MOT Testers, including the required recording of continuous professional development (CPD) and is making them available online to enable businesses to save time and money.

IMI CEO Steve Nash said:
“IMI is now the one-stop shop for the entire motor industry for all the new MOT Tester requirements.

“We have designed the qualification, annual training and assessment with the needs of businesses in mind.  There is special value in the convenience of our online offer and the reassurance for consumers that comes with a business’s association with the Institute of the Motor Industry brand.”

Philip Clarke, Director of Solent Garage Services, Portsmouth, said:
“It was great to be involved in the new MOT Motorcycle Qualification Pilot Scheme and I 100% back the changes to the MOT Training Scheme, it can only improve the standards within the industry.  Now that I have passed this award, and once I have passed my Demonstration Test, it will add another service that I can offer to my customers.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Fast Pass Training; I highly recommend them and cannot thank them enough. I will be sending my other staff on their training courses and I will only use Fast Pass Training for my training requirements in the future.”

The IMI MOT annual training and annual assessment, including the eLearning solution is now available to all MOT Testers from today.
