North London Garage Stars in ITN Film

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and ITN Productions spoke to the London based garage to highlight the gender gap threatening an industry worth over £152 billion each year, and their commitment to recognising employees’ expertise and the need for continuing professional development.

Jane Russell, Director of Russell Automotive Centre, said, “You can’t imagine why any business wouldn’t recruit females since they make up half of the population and its vital workforces reflect this. My success within the industry lead to me featuring on the Top 50 Power Part-Time list, and this is something I’m extremely proud of. I sit amongst some amazing and inspirational people. Working at our business and being a full-time parent isn’t easy, but I’m a good example of how it’s achievable.”

“As part of our company ethos we recognise employees so we joined the IMI Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) to ensure our staff have up to date training – it’s vital for business owners and the consumer that we invest in training.”

Developed by the IMI in response to the growing demand for an independent sign of quality and professionalism in the automotive industry, the IMI Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) gives customers the reassurance that the organisation offers the highest standards of service and knowledge.
