Recognition for LEVC Manchester

LEVC (formerly the London Taxi Company) has manufactured the iconic London taxi in Coventry for almost 70 years. Since the end of 2017, the company has only been building range extended electric vehicles at its new facility in Ansty Park.

The employer recognition scheme (ERS) plaque was presented by IMI's business development manager, Michelle Barrett MIMI, to David Kennedy, LEVC Brand Manager, and Peter Ellis FIMI, LEVC Learning & Development Manager.

Peter Ellis FIMI said: "As a people driven business, we are delighted to receive our first Employer Recognition Scheme from the IMI for our Manchester Dealership. The award recognises the effort the whole team have made in adapting to a cutting-edge technology platform. This is not an evolution of the previous taxi, but a complete revolution.

"This is the world's most advance electric taxi and our commitment to learning and development is an investment in the most important assets we have, our people. We recognise that the skill, knowledge and qualifications of our dealership teams are critical in helping realise our ambitions to be the urban commercial vehicle provider of choice."

LEVC's new state of the art factory, on the outskirts of Coventry, is the UK's first dedicated electric vehicle plant. It contains the most advanced lightweight aluminium body assembly unit in the UK, with an electric vehicle assembly line, dedicated research & development and engineering units, making it a truly integrated operation.

The transition to electric vehicles is the result of a substantial investment from LEVC's parent company, Geely, who are China's largest private automotive business. Geely's investment will create more than 1,000 new high skilled, high quality manufacturing jobs, including 200 engineers and around 30 apprenticeships.
