With support from LSIS, and working in collaboration with the Association of Colleges (AoC), AELP has produced a new good practice guide on supply chain management Supply Chain Management – a good practice guide for the post-16 skills sector.
The guide is designed to help providers minimise the risk within supply chains, ensuring that they offer high-quality provision that is responsive to the needs of local communities, learners and employers.
This guide gives an insight into the strategic importance of effective supply chain management offering a step-by-step approach to good practice within supply chains in the post-16 skills sector. It explores issues such as developing the business case, assessing capability and capacity, managing performance, monitoring quality of provision, contracting fees and the role of risk assessment. The content is informed by current good practice within the sector, highlighted in the case studies that accompany the guide. The case studies feature independent providers, FE colleges, the third sector and provider networks, looking at supply chain management from the perspective of both prime contractors and sub-contractors.
The providers featured in the case studies have generously shared the documents used within their own supply chains enabling us to create a Supply Chain Management Resource Bank where you will find examples of monitoring checklists, due diligence reports, contract review forms, sub-contracting processes and flowchart.
To access the case studies and resource bank, please go to the AELP website.
