5 Dec 2018 | Sussex MA
Speaker: Peter Leake, Jaguar Training Consultant
Time: 19.00 for 19.45
Although Sir John Egan was touched upon during last year’s lecture, Peter has written a new presentation focusing on the end of 1981, which saw the darkest patch in Jaguar's long history.
Still under the ownership of British Leyland, the lack of investment was showing and the new Chairman, John Egan, found himself faced with some very tough decisions. Jaguar were cashless, quality was at an all time low and the dealers around the world were seriously considering their future - so, what for Jaguar now?
In his own style, Peter will tell the story of those issues, their solutions and the plan for the future - through the eyes of one who was part of that recovery plan. The evidence of the success of that plan was seen when, in December 1989, Ford put forward their hostile bid to take over Jaguar for £1.6 billion - for a company that less than 10 years earlier was worthless.
Doors will open at 19:00 for the customary opportunity to enjoy a tea or coffee and network with friends and colleagues.
Numbers will be limited to 70 so book early to avoid disappointment.
