About this position: This company is a market leading off road electric motorcycle manufacturer. We design, develop, manufacture, and distribute globally market leading products. All design work and prototyping is undertaken in the UK at the Hastings head office. This company is looking for a highly capable and enthusiastic Senior Design Engineer to be responsible for taking new R&D projects from initial concept stage, proving their capability, refining into pre-production prototypes, and developing through to production sign-off. Duties and Responsibilities: * Work through from initial project briefs, developing concepts for future products to production-ready designs as well as development of existing products * Manage interim product refreshes, including specification changes, decal, and artwork updates * Create and maintain 3D CAD models with associated drawings and specification sheets in Solidworks * Manager OSET’s obligations to comply with international safety and environmental directives and ensure the products meet these requirements * Create and maintain BOM documents and integrate with other business database systems * Create comprehensive specifications for components and assemblies * Visit manufacturing partner sites in Taiwan and Thailand to check part and assembly quality * Work on projects with minimal intervention from team leader and deliver results in tight timescales * Set up and run development tests, producing comprehensive result write up reports * Build up test and prototype products for testing, ensuring specification is correct and recorded * Support in maintaining technical folder with guidance from colleagues * Analyse off tool samples and document any non-conformity * Focal point for internally printed 3D parts, maintenance, and control of printer consumables * To undertake and assist with projects as required by your Manager * Any other ad-hoc duties as required by your Manager Essential Experience: * Maths and English GCSE grade C or above * BSc/BEng high class degree in Product design, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering degree subject * Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Publisher * Detailed and applicable understanding of fundamental engineering principles * Practical and applicable knowledge of UK and EU Standards and legislation * Some project management skills * Hands on workshop practical experience * Competent and experienced in 3D design packages (Solidworks) * Self-motivated and resilient * Flexible and adaptable * Able to take instruction and work under pressure * Excellent communication skills, clear and concise written and verbal skills
