IMI Regional Forum- Midlands & North of England

We’re pleased to invite IMI members to a regional forum for the Midlands & North of England.

You are invited to join us on 30th September at the UK National Battery Industrialisation Centre, bringing together automotive professionals, employers, educators and industry stakeholders for an engaging morning focused on the key developments shaping the future of the motor industry. This is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from IMI leadership, Nick Connor, CEO of the IMI who will share the IMI's vision and mission, outlining how the organisation continues to support automotive professionals and businesses through a period of significant technological, regulatory and workforce change.

We are also delighted to welcome Paul Whiteside, representing the Electrification Skills Network, who will offer expert perspectives on the evolving electrification skills, qualifications and assessment landscape, helping delegates better understand the opportunities and challenges ahead.

As a key collaborator in bringing together employers, educators and industry stakeholders, the Electrification Skills Network has played an important role in shaping discussions around the future skills needs of the sector.

West Midlands Combined Authority will be sharing how the Investment Zone is investing locally, highlighting plans to create over 30,000 jobs to support the future of the automotive, advanced manufacturing and mobility sectors. Coventry City Council will focus on how employers can address skills shortages, retain staff and develop their workforce without disruption to day-to-day operations.

The forum will also include a presentation from Emma Carrigy BSc MSc MIMI, Head of Research, Careers & Inclusion at the IMI, exploring how the industry is raising standards, shaping future talent and leading change across the sector. Attendees will receive an important update on Automated Vehicles legislation, IMI TechSafe and the ZEV Mandate, providing insight into the latest policy, regulatory and technological developments impacting the automotive workforce.

Full agenda will be released closer to the time.
