We are recruiting for an experienced Lead Vehicle Damage Assessor (Lead VDA) to join our client's busy, state-of-the-art accident repair centre in Dundee.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced VDA, ATA Vehicle Damage Assessor or Senior Vehicle Estimator who is ready to take on additional responsibility, support a team and help drive performance within a large, modern vehicle bodyshop.

The Role – Lead Vehicle Damage Assessor
Working within a busy accident repair centre, you will combine hands-on vehicle damage assessments and repair estimating with team leadership, operational support and quality control.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting accident-damaged vehicles and assessing the full extent of vehicle damage.
- Producing accurate electronic and manual repair estimates.
- Identifying appropriate repair methods in line with Thatcham, BSI and manufacturer guidelines.
- Liaising with insurance companies, engineers and customers to obtain repair authorisation.
- Providing technical guidance and support to vehicle technicians and bodyshop staff.
- Monitoring repair quality, productivity and operational performance.
- Ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with industry standards.
- Keeping up to date with manufacturer repair methods, technical bulletins and insurance requirements.
- Supporting the wider management team in maintaining excellent customer service and workshop standards.
Requirements – Vehicle Damage Assessor
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA), ATA VDA or Senior Vehicle Estimator.
- Strong knowledge of automotive accident repair and vehicle bodyshop operations.
- Experience producing accurate vehicle repair estimates.
- Knowledge of Thatcham repair methods, BSI standards and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Experience dealing with insurance companies and obtaining repair authorisations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to support, motivate and lead a team.
- A strong understanding of vehicle repair quality, productivity and workshop performance.
Previous experience in a Lead VDA, Senior VDA, Bodyshop Team Leader or Vehicle Damage Assessment supervisory position would be advantageous. Equally, an experienced VDA ready to progress into a leadership role will be considered.
