Case Study: Brandon C. Mascall

Member Brandon

I am an Automotive Diagnostics & Technical Operations Professional based in Trinidad & Tobago and currently work with Massy Motors – Petit Valley Quikservice, where I am privileged to contribute to a team committed to delivering high-quality automotive services and customer care.

My career has been built around a passion for continuous learning, technical excellence, and solving complex vehicle diagnostic challenges across a wide range of modern automotive technologies.

Before entering the automotive industry, I completed qualifications in Human Resource Management and later earned an Executive MBA. These experiences developed my leadership and strategic thinking before I pursued my passion for automotive engineering and diagnostics. Since then, I have continued investing in my professional development through internationally recognised training in hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, diagnostics, and advanced automotive systems.

Throughout this journey, my faith in God has been a constant source of strength and guidance. I am also deeply grateful for the unwavering support, encouragement, and sacrifices of my wife and family, whose belief in me has played an invaluable role in helping me achieve my professional goals.

Throughout my career, I have believed that learning should never stop. My objective has always been to help raise the standard of the automotive repair industry by continuously developing my own knowledge and sharing it with others. I am passionate about supporting the current generation of automotive technicians while also inspiring and helping to develop the next generation of professionals entering the industry. By promoting continuous learning, professionalism, and technical excellence, I hope to contribute to a stronger and more respected automotive profession.

I first became involved with the IMI because I wanted my knowledge, skills, and professional experience to be benchmarked against an internationally recognised standard. My goal was not only to continue developing as an automotive professional locally, but also to ensure that the standards I strive to uphold are recognised globally.

Through the IMI, I have completed internationally recognised qualifications, including IMI Levels 2–4 in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Technologies, IMI Hydrogen Vehicle Awareness, TechSafe registration, and IRTEC EV accreditation. These achievements have strengthened my technical knowledge while reinforcing the importance of professionalism, safety, and continuous development.

One of the greatest honours of my career has been being recognised by the IMI with the professional designations of Advanced Automotive Engineer (AAE) and Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry (MIMI). These recognitions represent far more than qualifications—they acknowledge my professional experience, commitment to lifelong learning, and dedication to maintaining the highest standards within the automotive industry.

Working with the IMI has given me confidence that the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my career, meet internationally respected standards. This has continually motivated me to grow as both a technician and a professional in this continuously evolving industry

The IMI has had a significant impact on both my professional confidence and career development.

Achieving internationally recognised qualifications and professional membership has strengthened my credibility, broadened my technical knowledge, and reinforced the importance of continuous professional development. Receiving the AAE and MIMI designations represents one of the proudest milestones of my career because they recognise not only academic achievement but also practical experience, professional commitment, and ongoing development.

Living and working in Trinidad & Tobago, it is especially meaningful to know that the IMI provides a globally respected benchmark that allows automotive professionals from anywhere in the world to demonstrate their competence and professionalism.

Perhaps most importantly, my journey has reinforced my belief that with commitment, continuous learning, faith, and the support of those around you, professional excellence can be achieved regardless of geographical location. I hope my story encourages other technicians to invest in themselves, pursue excellence, and never stop learning.

"The IMI has given me far more than internationally recognised qualifications—it has provided professional recognition, confidence, and a global benchmark for excellence. Achieving AAE and MIMI is one of the proudest moments of my career, and I am honoured to be part of an organisation that values professionalism, lifelong learning, and the continuous development of automotive technicians around the world. I am proud to represent both the IMI and Trinidad & Tobago on the international stage."
