Find out more about Apprenticeship certification in Scotland
Successful apprentices will receive an appropriate Apprenticeship completion certificate from IMI. This is a separate certificate from the SVQ certificate, the technical certificate and any core skills certificates that will have been issued by one of our awarding body partners.
Separate certification of the Core Skills is required for all apprentices.
All applications for Modern Apprentice Certificates must be submitted using the online registration and certification system, MA Online. When you come to claim using the new V2 MA Online website (https://modernapprenticeships.org/web/), you will need to use our Modern Apprenticeship Training Agreement for each individual claim
Please ensure that all the evidence requirements are uploaded to MA Online. We will endeavour to turn around each certification within 10 working days from the date that the certification claim is requested. This will validate the claim by the Training Provider/College, with the apprentice giving the claimant permission to do so.
Changes to Payment Process
The IMI currently charges £30 for Scottish Apprenticeship completion certificates upon completion of the Scottish Apprenticeship programme. This £30 consists of the £8 registration charge, and the £22 completion certificate. We are currently looking at aligning this with the practice of other Sector Skills Councils, and therefore we are making some changes to this.
From 1st November 2014, The IMI will be charging for the combined registration and completion Certification fee upfront at the point of registration for each learner registered on a Scottish Apprenticeship programme. This means that £30 payment upfront will need to be made at the point of registration for all learners registered from 1st November 2014 onwards. For all learners that were registered before this date, The IMI will continue to take payment at the end of the Apprenticeship.
